Air Fryer Frozen Pork Chops: How Long for ¾–1 Inch Chops

Cooking air fryer frozen pork chops is straightforward when you use a short loosening stage, season after the surface thaws, and finish by temperature instead of time alone. This no-thaw method works for ¾–1 inch boneless or bone-in chops and keeps the seasoning simple for a fast pork dinner.

Ingredients

2 serv.

Instructions

Air fryer:190°C / 374°F

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 190°C for 3 minutes. Place the frozen pork chops in the basket in a single layer; if they are stuck together, set them in as one block for now.

  2. Air fry for 5 minutes to loosen the surface. Separate any chops that were frozen together, then pat away surface ice or moisture with kitchen paper.

  3. Brush both sides with oil. Mix the salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and optional dried herb, then season both sides of the chops.

  4. Return the chops to the basket in a single layer with a little space between them. Air fry at 190°C for 8 minutes, then flip.

  5. Continue cooking until the thickest part reaches 63°C on an instant-read thermometer, avoiding bone. Use these total time guides from frozen: 16–18 minutes for ¾ inch chops, 19–22 minutes for 1 inch chops, adding 1–3 minutes for bone-in chops if needed.

  6. If the pork is below 63°C, air fry in 1–2 minute increments and recheck. Do not judge doneness by color alone.

  7. Transfer to a plate and rest for 3 minutes before serving.

Tips & tricks

  • For ½ inch frozen boneless chops, start checking around 11–13 minutes total.
  • Do not overlap the chops after the initial loosening stage; cook in batches if needed.
  • Bone-in chops often read cooler near the bone, so check the thickest meaty area without touching bone.
  • A light oil coating helps the seasoning stick after the defrost stage and improves browning.
  • For juicier results, pull the chops as soon as they reach 63°C and keep the 3-minute rest.
