Air Fryer Frozen Fish Fillets: How Long for Breaded White Fish
Air fryer frozen fish fillets cook straight from frozen in 10–16 minutes, with crisp breading and a safe 63°C/145°F center.

This no-thaw air fryer method is for frozen breaded white fish fillets, including cod, pollock, and haddock. The timing range covers thin crumbed fillets through thicker battered pieces, with a thermometer check so the coating gets crisp without leaving the center cold.
Ingredients
Instructions
Air fryer:193°C / 379°F
Preheat the air fryer to 193°C for 3 minutes. If your air fryer does not require preheating, add 1–2 minutes to the cook time as needed.
Place the frozen breaded fish fillets in a single layer in the basket, leaving space between pieces. Do not thaw, stack, or overlap them.
Air fry for 6–7 minutes, then turn the fillets carefully with tongs or a thin spatula. Lightly spray any dry patches of breading with oil if desired.
Continue air frying for 5–9 minutes more, depending on thickness: 10–12 minutes total for thin fillets, 12–14 minutes for standard fillets, and 14–16 minutes for thick or battered fillets.
Check the thickest part of each fillet with a food thermometer. The fish must reach 63°C/145°F internally; the flesh should also be opaque and flake easily beneath the coating.
If the coating is browned but the center is not yet 63°C/145°F, reduce the air fryer to 188°C and cook 1–3 minutes more. Serve hot with lemon wedges or sauce if using.
Tips & tricks
- Use 193°C/380°F for the best balance of crisp coating and fully heated center. Use 200°C/400°F for thinner fillets, but check early to avoid over-browning.
- Most frozen breaded fish fillets already contain oil, so extra oil is optional. A small spray helps only if the crumb looks pale or floury.
- Cook in batches if needed. Crowding traps steam and can make the underside soggy.
- For battered fillets, handle gently when flipping because the coating can be fragile before it fully crisps.
- Perforated parchment can make cleanup easier, but avoid solid parchment that blocks airflow under the fish.
