How Long to Air Fry Frozen Broccoli at 400°F / 200°C

Frozen broccoli is one of the easiest air-fryer vegetable sides because it goes in straight from the freezer and cooks quickly. The key is a hot basket, enough space for steam to escape, and a hard shake halfway so the florets roast instead of turning watery.

How Long to Air Fry Frozen Broccoli at 400°F / 200°C after step 2: Place the frozen broccoli in a bowl. Break apart any large icy clumps, then toss with the oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika if using.
After step 2
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 200°C / 400°F for 3 minutes if your model recommends preheating.

  2. Place the frozen broccoli in a bowl. Break apart any large icy clumps, then toss with the oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika if using.

  3. Spread the broccoli in the basket in as close to a single layer as possible. Cook in 2 batches if the basket is crowded; too much overlap makes the broccoli steam.

  4. Air fry at 200°C / 400°F for 8–12 minutes, shaking the basket firmly halfway through to separate florets and release steam.

  5. Check the texture: 8–10 minutes gives tender-crisp broccoli, while 10–12 minutes gives more browned tips. Large florets or a full basket may need 12–15 minutes.

  6. Serve hot with lemon wedges. The thick stems should be fully hot and fork-tender before serving.

Tips & tricks

  • Cook straight from frozen; thawed broccoli releases more water and turns softer.
  • For no-oil frozen broccoli, skip the oil and use the same timing, but expect a drier, less browned result. Seasonings may not cling as well.
  • At 193°C / 380°F, cook for 10–14 minutes, shaking halfway, for gentler browning.
  • If adding parmesan or a sauce, add it during the last 1–2 minutes or after cooking so it does not burn or make the broccoli soggy.
  • Use florets rather than finely chopped broccoli when possible; small pieces can dry out before the stems become tender.
