Preheat the air fryer to 199°C/390°F for 3 minutes. If your model does not require preheating, add 1–2 minutes to the cook time as needed.

If adding cheese, place a slice on each hot patty after cooking, slide the basket back in, and let it sit off-heat for 30–60 seconds until melted.
Toast buns in the air fryer for 1–2 minutes after the patties come out, if desired. Assemble with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and sauce, then serve right away.

Tips & tricks

For a 204°C/400°F setting, start checking standard patties at 7 minutes; most finish in 7–9 minutes.
For a gentler 193°C/380°F setting, cook standard patties about 10–12 minutes, especially if they are thick or very cold.
No oil is usually needed because breaded frozen patties already crisp well. Use only a very light spray if a specific brand looks dry.
Tyson, Foster Farms, and store-brand patties vary in thickness, so use the package directions as a guide and confirm doneness with a thermometer.
Add cheese after the fan stops or during residual heat so the slice does not lift or slide around in the basket.
